India on Thursday marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the large-scale military operation launched against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives on April 22 last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior Union Ministers updated their social media profile pictures to commemorate the anniversary of Operation Sindoor.
PM Modi Pays Tribute To Armed Forces
Prime Minister Modi lauded the armed forces for their bravery, precision and determination in responding to the Pahalgam terror attack. He said the operation reflected India's uncompromising stance against terrorism, the strength and coordination of the armed forces, and the growing impact of self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Reaffirming the country's commitment to national security, he said India remains resolute in eliminating terrorism and dismantling the networks supporting it.

Leading the digital tribute on X, the Prime Minister replaced his display picture with a commemorative image honouring the courage and legacy of the mission.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the operation as a symbol of India's determination and military preparedness. In a post on X, he praised the armed forces for their "unmatched precision, seamless jointness and deep synergy across services," adding that the operation had set a benchmark for modern warfare.
Several Union Ministers, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, also changed their profile pictures in tribute to Operation Sindoor.

Armed Forces Release Special Videos
The Indian Air Force and the Indian Army released videos commemorating the mission. Sharing its tribute, the Indian Air Force wrote: "Justice served. Precise in action, eternal in memory, Operation Sindoor continues. India forgets nothing, India forgives nothing."
The Indian Army described the mission as "India's resolute response β calibrated and precise" and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and people. "Justice served. Jai Hind," the Army added.
The Headquarters of the Indian Defence Staff also called Operation Sindoor a "symbol of national resolve."

The Army further released a video documenting the events leading up to the operation and highlighting the detailed planning behind the precision strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan and PoK.
The video featured Prime Minister Modi's stern warning issued after the Pahalgam attack: "India will identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers."
Another strong message from the Prime Minister highlighted India's diplomatic stance against terrorism. "Terror and talk cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood will not flow together," he had declared.
Background Of Operation Sindoor
The Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22, 2025, when Pakistan-backed terrorists targeted civilians, killing 26 people. The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to reports, the attackers allegedly singled out victims after asking about their religion and forcing them to recite the Islamic 'kalima' to identify non-Muslims. Among those killed were 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who reportedly tried to save the victims. Several victims were newly married, and many were shot at close range in front of their families.
In response, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6-7, carrying out what officials described as a focused, measured and non-escalatory military action targeting high-value terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Operation Sindoor was seen as a significant demonstration of India's military and strategic capabilities, combining both military and non-military measures. Officials said the operation successfully neutralised terrorist threats, deterred further aggression and reinforced India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism while maintaining strategic restraint.
