Foreign travellers stuck in India due to airspace closures amid the US–Israel–Iran conflict will receive a 30-day visa extension and a waiver of penalties for overstaying, the Indian Consulate in Dubai announced.
In an X post on Friday, the Consulate said, "Extension of Regular Indian Visa/E-Visa and waiver of overstay penalty to foreigners stuck in India due to the ongoing developments in West Asia."
The notification clarified that all visas and e-visas expiring soon would be extended for one month free of charge under the jurisdiction of the Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRROs). Authorities also said any penalties for overstays by affected foreign nationals after February 28 would be waived.
Exit permits will be issued free of charge to foreign nationals affected by travel disruptions, allowing them to leave India once routes reopen. The consulate added that if a foreign national is unable to apply for an exit permit or visa extension, it would not be considered a violation of migration laws.
Additionally, a Temporary Landing Permit (TLP) will be granted free of charge to foreign nationals arriving in India due to diverted flights.

On Friday, the UAE announced that travellers will not be fined for delayed departures. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security said the exemption applies to anyone unable to travel due to flight suspensions or rescheduling caused by "exceptional regional circumstances."

The waiver comes as thousands of travellers remain stranded worldwide amid the Middle East conflict, which has caused airspace closures and flight cancellations. While some flights are resuming with precautions, the situation remains volatile, prompting some wealthy passengers to pay over $200,000 for flights out of the region.
The US, in collaboration with Israel, launched Operation Epic Fury against Iran on February 28, prompting retaliation from Tehran and sparking a regional conflict. As of Thursday, the sixth day of hostilities, strikes and counterstrikes continue with no resolution in sight.
