After the buzz around Monalisa's wedding, another personality who went viral during the Maha Kumbh has now stepped into married life. According to media reports, Abhay Singh — widely known as the "IIT Baba" — has tied the knot, surprising many of his followers.

Singh, who studied at IIT Bombay before turning to spirituality, reportedly married Preetika, an engineering graduate from Karnataka, earlier this year. The ceremony was kept largely private, with news of the wedding surfacing only recently.

Earlier this week, Singh visited his native village in Haryana's Jhajjar district along with his wife. Dressed in his usual saffron attire, he briefly interacted with the media and said the visit was to seek his parents' blessings and attend to some routine bank-related work.

As per reports, the wedding rituals were held at the Aghanjhar Mahadev Temple in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Shivratri, followed by a court marriage on February 19. The couple is now based in Dharamshala.

From IIT graduate to spiritual figure

Abhay Singh, also known as Abhey Singh or Abhay Grewal, first came into the spotlight during the Maha Kumbh Mela last year, where his unconventional journey caught public attention.

Originally from Haryana, he pursued aerospace engineering at IIT Bombay before later shifting to design. He then moved to Canada, where he held a well-paying job with an annual package of around ₹36 lakh.

However, his time abroad came with personal struggles. Reports suggest that Singh faced mental health challenges, which led him to question his career path and search for a deeper purpose. Eventually, he chose to leave his corporate life and embrace spirituality.

He gained widespread recognition after a viral media interaction during the Maha Kumbh in 2025, where his academic background contrasted sharply with his ascetic lifestyle, earning him the nickname "IIT Baba."

A change of heart on marriage

In the past, Singh had expressed reservations about marriage, shaped largely by conflicts he had witnessed within his own family. He had also been in a long-term relationship but chose not to take it forward at the time.

Now, in a significant shift, Singh has entered a new phase of life. His recent visit home also reflected improved family ties, with his parents reportedly welcoming both him and his wife warmly.
