The complete nomination list of the 17th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards was revealed on Friday and as expected Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial "Bajirao Mastani" is leading the list.
The list is not surprising, as the two biggest releases of last year – "Bajirao Mastani" and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" – have bagged maximum nominations. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra starrer "Bajirao Mastani" is leading the list with eight nominations. While Salman Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has got seven nods, Deepika-Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Piku" has received six nods.
"I am always astounded by the number of great films that are released each year that makes Indian cinema grow exponentially with the wealth of talent seen both on screen and off. The nominations reflect a rich spectrum of the kind of cinematic aptitude Bollywood has seen this year. With the number of talented nominees in the popular categories, I urge fans to see their favourite stars and films win awards by voting soon," Andre Timmins, director, Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd, said in a statement.
Surprisingly, Akshay Kumar's critically acclaimed movie "Baby" has not bagged a single place in the nomination list.
