The 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) 2016 is set to kickstart on December 9 and will go on until December 16 in Thiruvanthapuram. IFFK's delegate pass distribution started on Wednesday with Minister for Culture AK Balan handing over the first pass to actress Manju Warrier.
As a step to support transgenders in the society, Manju handed over the delegate pass to transgender activist Sheetal Shyam during the function.
Malayalam films to be screened at IFFK 2016
Malayalam movies, including 6 Feet / Aaradi, Godsay, Ka Bodyscapes, Kammatipaadam, Kismath, Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Mohavalayam will be screened during the eight-day event. Vidhu Vincent's Manhole and Dr Biju's When the Woods Bloom (Kaadu Pookkunna Neram) are in the competition category of films this year apart from 13 other movies.
Competition
The competition list includes Clair Obscur (Tereddüt), Clash (Eshtebak), Cold of Calandar (Kalandar Sogugu), Die Beautiful, Knife in the Clear Water (Qing shui li de daozi), Maj Rati Keteki, Sink, Soul on a String (Pi sheng shang de hun), The Cursed Ones, The Last Mural (Chitrokar), The Return, Warehoused (Almacenados) and Where are my Shoes? (Kafsh hayam koo)
Awards
The best movie will receive Suwarna Chakoram that has a Golden Crow Pheasant Award with a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh to be shared between the film's director and the producer. Best Director will be given the Rajatha Chakoram award with a cash prize of Rs 4 lakh. The other awards are Rajatha Chakoram for Best Debut Director and Audience Prize Rajata Chakoram.
The movies will be screened in the theatres Nila, Kairali, Tagore, Sree, Kalabhavan, Nishagandhi, Dhanya, Remya, New Screen 1, New Screen 2, New Screen 3, Ajanta, Sree Padmanabha.
