United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would try to attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., but admitted that the timing was difficult due to the ongoing Iran war and the broader crisis in the Middle East.

Donald Trump Jr., popularly known as Don Jr., is set to marry socialite Bettina Anderson this weekend on a small island in the Bahamas. Trump described the ceremony as a "small little private affair" that will be attended by close family members and friends.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said, "He'd like me to go. It's going to be just a small little private affair and I'm going to try and make it. This is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things."

The US President also joked about the political and media scrutiny surrounding his possible attendance at the wedding amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

"That's one I can't win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course. Hopefully they're going to have a great marriage," he said.

According to reports, Trump Jr. and Anderson have kept the wedding details private due to security concerns and to avoid inconveniencing guests with heavy security arrangements if the President attends the ceremony.

This will be Trump Jr.'s second marriage. The 48-year-old was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 12 years before the couple divorced in 2018. They share five children. Earlier this week, Vanessa Trump revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Don Jr. currently serves as executive vice president of The Trump Organization and remains one of the most vocal supporters of his father's MAGA political movement.

Last year, Trump Jr. had hinted that he may consider running for president "someday." Donald Trump's second presidential term is scheduled to continue until January 2029, though he has not publicly named anyone to carry forward his political legacy.
