Not so long ago, the automaker, Hyundai, premiered its luxury sedan. Genesis, the car in question, featured at the Auto car Performance Show in Mumbai with the sole aim of gauging the response from the visitors to the show.
Now the latest episode of its adventures on Indian roads sees it doing the rounds in Chennai as the fresh batch images on the Internet suggest.
Caught on camera by Turbos and Pistonz, the Genesis, which was spotted in Chennai where Hyundai India has its manufacturing facility, shows a Tamil Nadu registration. And going by the words of the original publisher of the images, a total of three Genesis were imported to the country.
Genesis, an elegantly designed sedan measures 4,990mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,480mm in height. The engine line-up of the sedan, spotted in Chennai includes 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine. It can pump in 311bhp power and 397Nm torque.
In the international market, the car is also offered with 3.0-litre petrol and a 5.0-litre V8 motors, producing 253hp of power and 253hp respectively. The top-of-the-line model with 5-litre mill is offered with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
Speaking of features, Genesis, a saloon that comes with all the bells and whistles accommodates, multi-functional steering wheel, heated front seats, Blind Spot Detection, engine start/stop button and traction control. In India, the car will rival Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Audi A6.
Moving further, in 2015, Hyundai is also expected to introduce the facelift version of Verna in India. The facelift Verna is likely to pack the same 1.4-litre diesel and petrol engines and 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines under the hood, with a five-speed manual gearbox for petrol and a six-speed manual for diesel.
The Verna facelift is rumoured to get a price tag in the range of ₹7.30 lakh to ₹11.50 lakh and when launched, the car will rival Honda City, VW Vento and Maruti Ciaz in India.
From the house of Hyundai, Elite i20 Cross and ix25 Compact SUV are also expected in the New Year.
