The sudden decision by the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE) to remove all references to the legendary wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan, from its official website has shocked thousands of Hulk fans.

There are several theories being debated. According to one, Terry Bollea, best known as Hulk Hogan, was removed after a recent racist audio leak. It was speculated that the six-time WWE (World Heavyweight) champion, was removed over an audio clip from a 2012 radio interview.

However, social media users, who accessed the alleged audio, claim that the leaked tape does not contain any racist reference. A report by The Huffington Post, however, claims that the actual racist audio is yet to be released and it contains racial slurs directed against wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

American journalist Marc Lamont Hill tweeted: "...the transcripts that I've seen have Hogan calling The Rock the 'N-word' and 'sambo' among others."

Radar Online but claimed that WWE fired Hulk Hogan went a racist rant over his daughter sleeping with a black man. In the alleged racist audio Hogan told his sex tape co-star Heather Clem that he was a 'little racist."

"I guess we're all a little racist," he said about his daughter Brooke dating a black man. "I don't know if Brooke was f*cking the black guy's son. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f*cking n*ggers. But then when it comes to nice people and sh*t, and whatever" according to a joint report by RadarOnline.com and The National Enquirer.

Hulksters - the fans of the 61-year-old wrestling legend, also debate whether it was the $100 million personal-injury lawsuit against Gawker Media over a sex tape featuring Hogan that prompted WWE action.

According to Wrestling News Source, "On WWE.com, Hogan is no longer listed on the WWE Hall of Fame page and all of his merchandise has also been removed from WWEShop.com. The only thing currently remaining that mentions Hogan involves WWE's upcoming Australian tour, which Hogan was scheduled to take part in as a general manager. However, when any attempt to access this page is made, a message appears stating "you are not authorized to access this page."

In a rather cryptic message on his official Twitter account Hulk Hogan @HulkHogan has only added more confusion to the situation:  "In the storm I release control,God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be,one love. HH," he posted.

The WWE champion started off his career in 1977 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He is the first man ever to have won two Royal Rumble consecutively; in 1990 and 1991.
