A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, where a young man allegedly barged into the room of two female students at around 2 a.m. and brutally assaulted them. He allegedly pulled their hair, verbally abused them, and physically attacked them inside a hostel located in the Shankar Ghat area under the Shivkuti police station limits.

According to reports, the accused is the son of the hostel owner where the two students were staying while preparing for competitive exams. A 30-second video of the incident has now gone viral on social media, showing the man assaulting the students and dragging one of them by her hair, while an elderly woman is seen trying to stop him.

The students alleged that the accused, identified as Shubham Dwivedi, had been harassing them for several days and had ill intentions toward them. They claimed that on May 18, he attempted to force his way into their room. When they resisted and refused to open the door, he allegedly began banging on it repeatedly.

The victims further alleged that Dwivedi was under the influence of alcohol and had been constantly calling and messaging them for the past 10 days. When the students ignored his calls, he allegedly locked their room from outside. One of the students then contacted another woman living nearby for help. The accused allegedly also locked the second student's room from outside and continued threatening them.

With no way to escape, the students began screaming for help. Soon after, the accused's mother arrived at the spot, following which he opened the door. However, the students alleged that he again abused and assaulted them in front of her.

One of the victims later called her cousin, who lives nearby, and also dialled emergency number 112 to inform the police. The victim further alleged that the accused attacked her with broken glass even in the presence of police personnel and threatened to kill her.

Based on the complaint filed by the students, police registered an FIR and arrested the accused. However, he was later granted bail by the court.

One of the victims, who is originally from Amethi, had been staying at the hostel to prepare for competitive examinations. She alleged that the harassment and inappropriate behaviour by the accused had been continuing for several days before the assault took place.
