Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI), the country's second largest two-wheeler maker, is planning to upgrade its entire exiting line-up in India in 2016.
While speaking to ET Auto, Keita Muramatsu -- President and Chief Executive at HMSI -- revealed that the company will roll out the refreshed models of its existing product line-up in the country next year and will launch one product every month.
According the report, Honda is likely to roll out the updated version of 14 of its models in the country. The update is likely to be limited to minor changes. Honda will also be equipping its models with Combined Brake System (CBS) and Antilock Braking System (ABS) to meet BS-IV emission norms. While Honda will equip all its models of less than 125cc with Combined Brake System (CBS), the Antilock Braking System (ABS) will be installed in motorcycles above 125cc.
"The implementation of BS-IV norms and Combi Brake System (CBS) etc will increase the cost. And if like cars, if the BS-V norm is advance then further cost will increase, nothing is predictable right now," the publications quoted Muramatsu. "However, we will try to find a cost effective solutions also," he added.
Honda expects to see 15% growth in the two-wheeler market in 2016 and the company's new Gujarat plant with annual capacity 6 lakh units will start operations by January end.
