If the latest reports on the web are anything to go by, two wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India's (HMSI) Gujarat plant, which is under construction, will be operational by January 2016.

A report of MotorOctane, citing sources claims that the works at Honda's Gujarat plant are getting over and is likely to begin operations in early 2016. The plant, which is situated at Vithalapur, is the company's fourth production facility in India. The company started construction of the plant in October, 2014.

Honda's new plant, which spreads across 250 acres, will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million units.

"The work in the Gujarat plant is projected to get over by January and most likely the operations will start by then. This will be a complete scooter plant with a capacity of 1.2 million units," MotorOctane quoted a company official.

Meanwhile, in yet another development, HMSI registered 50,000 unit sales in a single day, backed by auspicious buying on Ganesh Chaturthi and Vishwakarma Jayanti.

The company registered retail sales of 56,000 on 17 September, over 40% higher than the last year.
