Hero Motocorp is reportedly in the process of developing a new Hunk motorcycle, which first hit the roads in 2007.

The bike was caught testing for the first time in camouflage by Gaadiwaadi.com. While the spy picture doesn't indicate much of difference over the current model, the most notable change is the gas charged shock absorber in inverted position. Also, the red coloured springs have now made way for the traditional black colour.

The front mudguard has been redesigned and now covers the front end of the front shocks, and some golden coloured graphic touches can be seen over the fuel tank scoops.

Hero Hunk facelift runs on MRF tyres and a disc brake can be seen at the rear, which is the optional extra for the current Hunk.

The new Hunk is expected to be powered by the 149.2cc, four-stroke, single cylinder engine that also does duty in the Xtreme Sports. While the current motorcycle churns out 14.2bhp, the updated Hunk is expected to produce 15.6bhp at 8500rpm and 13.5Nm of torque at 7000rpm. The engine will be mated to a five-speed transmission.

The updated Hunk will enter the market in the festive season and will be priced slightly higher than the current model.

The Hunk was first launched when Hero and Honda were a joint entity. The motorcycle found momentum among the younger audience and was steady in terms of sales. After the split between the two, Honda(HMSI) spearheaded the 150cc segment with the CB Unicorn, CB Unicorn Dazzler, CB Trigger, CBR 150R and the latest CB Unicorn 160. 

The share of the Hero MotoCorp in the segment was limited to the Xtreme, Xtreme Sports, Hunk and the Achiever. The new Hunk is expected to increase the presence of Hero in the burgeoning 150cc motorcycle segment.
