Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has said many times last year that the company has no intention to launch CBR250RR, a race-bred iteration of the CBR250R in India. However, HMSI has reportedly patented the bike in India recently.

A document from the patent office reveals that Honda has patented the CBR250RR in India, reports Rushlane. Though there is no indication on the launch of the motorcycle in India, the move may end up in bringing the bike to India as a limited edition.

Honda has extracted CBR250RR from the Light Weight Super Sports Concept showcased at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show in 2015. The motorcycle comes with a mean looking front, muscular front fender, chiselled fuel tank, and ventilated disc brakes for both the wheels.

The motorcycle is powered by parallel-twin liquid cooled, 249.7cc engine with fuel injection mated to six-speed transmission. The mill develops 36bhp at 12,500rpm and 22.5 Nm of peak torque at 10,500rpm and the numbers are neck and neck against the main rival Yamaha R25. The motorcycle also boasts Throttle-By-Wire System with Accelerator Position Sensor and it has a top speed of 169kmph.

Based on the Truss frame, the CBR250RR is fitted with inverted telescopic front suspension at front and aluminium swing arm at rear. It features a wheelbase of 1,389mm, ground clearance of 145mm and a seat height of 790mm. The CBR250RR sports a 14.5L fuel tank. The motorcycle has been introduced in Honda racing red, Anchor graymetalic and Mat gunpowder black metallic shades.

It was reported that high price tag is the prime reason behind Honda's previous decision to not launch the CBR250RR in India. Honda will be forced to price the motorcycle in the region at around Rs. 4 lakh and at that price it wouldn't be a compelling case against rivals. It will be challenging for Honda to bring down the price if the company decides to launch CBR250RR in India.
