Japanese car manufacturer Honda's Amaze seems to be nearing its launch in India. The car was spotted at some of Honda's dealers and is now available for bookings.
Recent reports said that the Amaze is up for bookings with an advance of ₹10,000. The Rushlane reported that Pune's Crystal Honda confirmed they are accepting bookings.
Honda Amaze is expected to make its grand debut in India by April. Honda has not revealed details on its availability and pricing for India. The company hopes to revamp the auto market share with the launch of Amaze.
The new car is said to be the cheapest sedan Honda will offer to India, and most importantly is the first car from the company to come in a diesel variant.
Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India said, "The newly developed iDTEC engine belongs to the new generation powertrain technology Earth Dreams Technology that realises both excellent driving performance and fuel economy at a high level. Amaze will be the first car from Honda to sport this new diesel engine. We feel that the contemporary style of Amaze and all the core values of Honda (durability, quality and reliability) will appeal to the growing base of entry level sedan customers."
Amaze will be an entry-level sedan and will be based on the Brio platform which was a scorching success in India's small car segment. The new model will be pitted against Maruti Suzuki's Swift and Swift DZire models. On the mechanical front, the upcoming sedan is expected to pack a 1.5-litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams diesel engine.
The power of the engine is unknown. The company has not revealed other features of the Amaze. It is expected that the vehicle will feature most of the specifications to suit the needs of consumers at an affordable price.
According to Motoroids, Amaze will pack "dual airbags, ABS with EBD, 8 spoke 14" alloy wheels, height adjustable driver's seat, rear defogger, ORVMs with turn indicators and rear seat arm rest with cup holders."
