Divya Pal of IBNLive said: "Have been watching #hatestory2 for close to an hour, and the best part so far has been the song #aajfirtumpe. What delivers some genuine laughs in the first half are #sushantsingh's 'baba ka gyaan'. Some very stupid thoughts you hear. #hatestory2

"The gutsy and fearless #surveenchawla shows her middle finger to a police officer. Gets a thumbs up from me. #hatestory2. But the truth remains we are bored. Just heard someone

"Even though #hatestory addresses issues like empty marriage and sexual exploitation, it fails to deal with them in a convincing manner. #hatestory2 is strictly for diehard fans of #surveenchawla, #jaybhanushali and #sushantsingh."

Vinod Talreja of Bollywoodlife.com said: "The makers of the film have used lovemaking as its potent tool and there's sufficient skin show by Surveen, who is being touted as the new sex symbol of Bollywood. As said, while we don't see any revenge in the first half, but the second half would be hopefully impressive as Surveen gets to the business and kill the evil."

Ameet Bhuvan of Desimartini said: "Now a lot of the audience sitting in the hall especially for a near empty morning show were, to my embarrasment and scare, old uncles desperate for some titilation. Titilate the film does for sure, but then this is not the typical crassy standards we are used to with Mallika Sherawat films.

"Is it worth the money at the theatres? Depends, if getting turned on in the darkness of the theatre is that important and exciting to you, give this a try. If not, stay home."

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "The woman-centric premise demands that the female protagonist deliver a commanding performance. Additionally, it's imperative [thanks to the script] that she shed her inhibitions and don a bold avatar. Surveen Chawla catches you completely unaware with a no-holds-barred performance

"On the whole, HATE STORY-2 is a riveting saga of a woman's vendetta against the man who wronged her. Additionally, the combo of skin show and melodious music add tremendous value to the project. This film has the potential to woo the masses and the youth, thus springing a big surprise at the ticket window!"

Mohar Basu of Koimoi.com said: "The name Hate Story 2 calls for it – hatred. The film that is essentially a revenge plot is a plodding story that lacks brains. Maintaining the hilarious lines of the prequel, the heavy breathing seductive talk has just gotten worse with this film. The lines are mere trash gems out of some B-grade movies of the past. I wasn't expecting thunderous work from the film but this film beats the bar of trashy that its prequel had set. If possible this one is worse! Avoid Hate Story 2; it is damp a show!

"Hate Story 2 is a shabbier, incoherent, clumsier and low of thrills sequel of its B-grade cheesy predecessor. Despite the grave flaws, Hate Story was atleast watchable. Hate Story 2 disappoints in every department. And though the lead lady shows some promise, the film doesn't even rise up to mediocrity."
