Half Girlfriend and Hindi Medium, which clashed at the box office on May 19, have made decent collection at the domestic box office in its first week. Both the movies witnessed growth in seven days.

After a slow start, Hindi Medium picked up pace in the following days owing to the overwhelming word of mouth publicity. While it collected Rs 2.81 crore on its opening day, its first weekend collection went up to Rs 12.56 crore nett at Indian box office.

Here's why we think rumoured couple Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor are quite serious about each other

The first week domestic box office collection of the Irrfan Khan starrer now stands at Rs 25.21 crore nett. "#HindiMedium Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 4.25 cr, Sun 5.50 cr, Mon 3.15 cr, Tue 3.30 cr, Wed 3.10 cr, Thu 3.10 cr. Total: ₹ 25.21 cr. India biz.," Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

With such good figures, the low budget movie, Hindi Medium, is expected to enjoy a good run at box office in the second week as well, despite Sachin Tendulkar's biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams (released this Friday, May 26) having received overwhelming response from across the country.

On the other hand, Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor Half Girlfriend, which raked in good figures in first weekend, performed consistently on weekdays. Its first week domestic box office collection now stands at Rs 49.19 crore nett. With this, it missed the Rs 50 crore mark in domestic box office in first week. However, as you read the story, Half Girlfriend may have already crossed Rs 50 crore mark in its eighth day.

Trade experts have predicted that Half Girlfriend's average performance at the box office may affect its business in second week and may also result in it being removed from many theatres across the country. The film also poses threat from the latest release, Sachin: A Billion Dreams.
