Gautham Vasudev Menon

Gautham Vasudev Menon said that he wanted to make Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram as a universe with sequels back in 2018 itself, but it has taken a long time to resolve the issues.

In an interview, Gautham Vasudev Menon said, "I wanted to make this film as a universe with sequels back in 2018 itself, but it has taken a long time to resolve the issues. LEO was very useful for this film, as we needed funds. We've now completed everything, but we encountered a few legal issues close to the release."

Now, Gautham Vasudev Menon says that he has resolved all the issues except one, which will be sorted out this week. The filmmaker added, "We've resolved them one by one, and only one issue is pending now. It will be sorted out this week."

Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy action thriller film, which has been written, directed and produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon. The movie is about John, a covert operative, who leads a team of elite professionals called "The Basement", with the intention of taking down terrorist organisations secretly without being bound by law and order.

Vikram and Ritu Varma are playing the lead roles and R Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran and Vinayakan are essaying the important roles in Dhruva Natchathiram. The film has music composed by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, S. R. Kathir and Vishnu Dev and editing by Anthony. Originally announced for an August 2017 release, the film remains unreleased due to legal and financial issues.

The film was initially announced with Suriya in 2013, but Menon shelved the project citing creative differences with the actor several months after the announcement. He revived the project in 2015 and finalised Vikram as the lead actor. The film began production in 2017 and was shot in seven countries, but languished in production hell for years owing to Menon's financial constraints and the COVID-19 pandemic, before concluding in February 2023.
