"Gandhi Jayanti" is observed across the nation on 2 October as it marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was one of the prominent leaders of the freedom movement of India against British rule.

He propagated the concept of "ahimsa" (non-violence) and is considered to be an epitome of truth. While Mahatma Gandhi's photos can be seen in many governmental establishments, schools, museums, there are some rare pictures of the freedom fighter.

Known as the "Father of the nation", Mahatma Gandhi was famous for "simple living high thinking" and its visible in most of his photos. "Gandhi Jayanti" is a national holiday celebrated at all governmental institutions, schools, colleges and socio-political organisations.
