Fans of HBO's most popular thriller, "Game of Thrones", are waiting for the release of season 5 finale episode titled "Mother's Mercy", which will be aired on Sunday, 14 June.

Though many felt that the incidents in latest season went on a slow pace, there have been some interesting and remarkable highlights.

Imprisonment of Cersei Lannister

One of the major highlights of the show was the imprisonment of King Tommen Baratheon's mother Cersei Lannister, who was taken into custody by the High Sparrow. Many viewers believe her unexpected imprisonment was well-deserved and long-pending.

Earlier, King's wife Margaery was also taken into custody for breaking the sacred laws.

Rape of Sansa Stark

Death and violent scenes are always expected during "Game of Thrones" weddings and fans were waiting to know what major event will happen during Sansa's wedding.

Fans can never forget the scene in which Sansa gets raped by her husband Ramsay Bolton in front of Theon Greyjoy aka Reek. It was one of the shocking moments of the season and many had criticised the makers for such a tragic scene.

Ser Jorah Mormont Infected by Stonemen

On their journey to Meereen, Tyrion Lannister and Ser Jorah Mormont were attacked by the stonemen and after the fight, Ser Jorah found greyscale on his wrist. However, whether he will keep this as a secret or share it with someone else is something we need to wait and watch.

Shireen burnt to death

Taking the advice of the red-haired priestess, Melisandre, Stannis Baratheon agreed to sacrifice his only daughter in service of R'hllor, the Lord of Light. This scene did not go well with "GoT" fans and many furiously reacted saying that it was the worst decision ever made by the Iron Throne contender. Others even threatened to quit watching the thriller series for killing such an innocent and smart girl. It has to be noted that Shireen's character does not die in the book.

Jon Snow almost killed by Whitewalkers

Fans had to hold their breath when Jon Snow and the wildlings clashed against the Whitewalkers. During the fight, the Lord Commander of The Wall would have got killed, had he not wielded his sword made of Valyrian steel.

Tyrion Appointed as Khaleesi's advisor

After Ser Jorah brought Tyrion to the queen, the Imp was appointed as her advisor as she is planning to take over Westeros. Tyrion also has a history of leading the 'Battle of the Blackwater' against Stannis as the Hand of the then King Joffrey.

Khaleesi Flying Drogon for the First Time

After Jon Snow's battle against the Whitewalkers, it was the masked men's attack against Khaleesi that can be considered as the most terrifying moment of the season. However, Drogon rescued Khaleesi by scorching many of the masked men.

But many of the fans have been wondering "why Khaleesi ditched all her followers, including Tyrion, Missandei and other Unsullied, in the war field" by leaving with Drogon.

Khaleesi flew on the dragon without giving anyone a lift. She's the type to get a ride back home and leave her friends stranded at the club.
