After a successful cricketing career, Virender Sehwag is set to impress his fans with his acting skills soon. The former batsman will be making his acting debut with a web series.
Sehwag, who is lovingly called Viru by millions of fans, will play the central character in the new web series, which will go on air next week on Video on Demand (VOD) service - Viu, DNA reported.
The cricketer, who is a social media sensation with his witty posts, is expected to tickle the viewers' funny bones in the show as well. The makers of the web series have not yet revealed the plot of the show.
Meanwhile, with web series becoming a new trend in India, many television producers are venturing into the digital medium. Ekta Kapoor's production house Balaji Telefilms is also set to produce a web series, which will be available through the company's app. The new show will feature Nimrat Kaur in the lead role. The story will be centred around the Indian Army. The yet-to-be titled web series will be directed by filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor.
Another new web series to be produced by Ekta will feature Dipannita Sharma in a bold and intense role opposite Sameer Soni. The yet-to-be titled show will be based on complicated relationships. Dipannita will play the character of a wife, whose husband falls in love with another woman.
Rithvik Dhanjani, who is one of the popular faces of Indian television industry, is also set to play the lead role in a new web series. It is a comedy show set in the backdrop of a big fat Indian wedding. The web series will revolve around a crazy bachelors' trip gone horribly wrong.
