Ford India is gearing up for the launch of its Figo hatchback on 23 September (Wednesday) just 40 days after it launched the Figo Aspire compact sedan in the country.

Ahead of the launch, AutocarIndia has released more pictures of the India specific Figo. The Figo hatch back is essentially the boot-less version of the Aspire sedan. The hatchback will feature identical design, but the rear of the car features its own identity with newly designed petal shaped tail lamps.

Inside, the Figo hatchback opts for black theme over the dual-tone black-and-beige dashboard in the Figo sedan. On features list, the hatchback will feature the Ford's SYNC multimedia system, automatic climate control and electronic folding mirrors. On the safety front, the 2015 Figo is expected to pack features like dual front air bags, anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

The next gen Figo hatchback is expected to pack 1.2-litre petrol motor that develops 70PS and 102Nm and 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine developing 90PS and 204Nm. Both the engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

The report from Motorbash reveals that the engine lineup of new Figo hatchback will include a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine mated to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The petrol mill will be tuned to deliver 112PS of power at 6,300 rpm and 136Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm.

Following the trend of Figo Aspire that starts at Rs 4.90 lakh, the Figo hatchback's price is also expected competitively. A price range of Rs 4 lakh to 7 lakh is expected and the car will be pitted against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Tata Bolt.

The Figo hatchback will be manufactured at the company's new Sanand plant in Gujarat.
