Fans are still wondering who Flash will be fighting in the fifth season. Sure, names like the Rag Doll, Cicada, King Shark, and Grodd have come up (somewhat confirmed), but who'll be 'the' nemesis? There's this shocking theory that hints at Cliffard DeVoe's (The Thinker) returning to the show.

Given how much of a genius DeVoe was, considering his capacity to think of the million outcomes of a single action, it was just plain boring the way it ended. Marlize, DeVoe's wife, unplugged his souped-up chair, erasing the digital version of him in the process.

YouTube channel Comic Books vs The World criticised the ending as lazy-writing, but also said that it could have been done on purpose. When DeVoe took over Ralph Dibny, he kept him alive. He also separated his good and bad selves and in time could use one of the copies of his consciousness still floating in Dibny's mind to come back to life.

Another possibility is that DeVoe had thought of how he could cease to exist and therefore uploaded a digital copy of himself (AI Thinker) on to the S.T.A.R. Labs computer systems. He could stay dormant for as long as he wants, strike when the time is right. This doesn't seem like a stretch because he had access to the lab in a few episodes, and he could've done it then.

In other news, the makers are on the lookout for a twenty-something actor who could play the role of Peter Merkel a.k.a the Rag Doll. Although unlikely, if used properly, this character can turn out to be quite the pain in the neck for team Flash.

From what we know so far, the makers are doing their best to put together a stellar show. A daughter from the future and the death of an existing superhero is just the tip of the iceberg.

Talking to Comicbook.com earlier this year, executive producer Todd Hebling said that the team is focussed on highlighting events from the comics, however, ensuring not to tell stories that are exactly the same.

"With [Nora], it's the time that she comes from and what she did. She makes this sort of big mistake at the end of the episode -- you see the concern of what she's done, and Barry certainly learned his lessons from time travel, so now it's going to be interesting to put him on the different side of the problem and see how he can help her fix it," Todd said.
