Five Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

According to officials, the accident occurred near Picket 39 on National Highway-44 when an Ertiga carrying the pilgrims lost control and crashed. All five occupants sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. One woman is reported to be in critical condition, while the remaining injured are said to be stable.

Security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police rushed to the spot and assisted in the rescue operation. The injured pilgrims received initial medical care before being taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The incident comes as the annual Amarnath Yatra continues under heightened security arrangements, with thousands of devotees travelling to the holy cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
