The year 2016 started on a good note for Malayalam entertainment industry with the release of Unni Mukundan's "Style", followed by Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Pavada", which is rocking the Kerala box office.

Movie-goers are now awaiting the release of "Action Hero Biju", "Puthiya Niyamam", "Maheshinte Prathikaaram" and "AakashVani", which are scheduled to hit the theatres in February.

Action Hero Biju

Nivin Pauly's "Action Hero Biju" is the second outing of the "1983" team and is one of the much awaited projects of the year, as the young actor dons the role of a police officer (SI Biju Paulose) for the first time in the action comedy entertainer. Anu Emmanuel, who was last seen as a child artiste in 2011 movie "Swapna Sanchari", makes her debut as heroine opposite Nivin in the Abrid Shine directorial. The movie is scheduled to hit screens on 4 February.

Maheshinte Prathikaaram

"Maheshinte Prathikaaram" is Dileesh Pothan's debut directorial venture, starring Fahadh Faasil, Anusree and Soubin Shahir. Fahadh plays the role of a wedding photographer, who owns a studio in Idukki in the upcoming comedy family entertainer. The movie will be released on 5 February.

Puthiya Niyamam

After "Bhaskar The Rascal", Mammootty and Nayantara have joined their hands for upcoming family entertainer "Puthiya Niyamam", directed by AK Sajan. While Mammootty dons the role of Advocate Louis Pothen with communist leanings, Nayantara plays his wife Vasuki Iyer in the movie. It also has Rachana Narayanankutty (as Kanimani), Sheelu Abraham (as Jeena Bhai IPS), Baby Ananya (as Chintha), Aju Varghese, Vinay Forrt, Jayaraj Warrier and SN Swami in significant roles. "Puthiya Niyamam" is expected to hit the theatres on 12 February.

AakashVani

Kavya Madhavan and Vijay Babu's upcoming family drama "AakashVani", which tells the story of couple Aakash and Vani, is the first release of the actors in 2016. Its trailer has already raised the expectations of the audience from the movie as it narrates about the ego clashes and roller-coaster relationship of many couples in our society. It is the debut directorial venture of Khais Millen and also stars Saiju Govinda Kurup, Lalu Alex, and Sreejith Ravi, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Vineeth Mohan and Sandra Thomas in pivotal roles. "AakashVani" will be released on 19 February.
