Eid al-Adha 2015 is upon us, and it will be celebrated by millions across the world to commemorate Ibrahim's devotion to God, which he demonstrated by sacrificing his son Ishmael.

Known as the "feast of sacrifice", Eid al-Adha is celebrated with a lot of prayer and animal sacrifice, the meat of which is distributed among the poor, before saving a third for oneself. Eid al-Adha is also considered the ideal time to perform the Haj, which is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

Eid al-Adha, observed on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah -- the 12th month in the Islamic calendar --was celebrated in some countries on 24 September. But in many parts of the world, the second-most important festival -- after Eid al-Fitr -- of the Muslims, falls on Friday, 25 September.

Reaching out to their Muslim fans who are celebrating Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakr Eid, many celebrities -- from "Quantico" star Priyanka Chopra to former One Direction member Zayn Malik -- have wished "Eid Mubarak".
