Driver mistakenly reverses car into river

A driver mistakenly stepped on the wrong pedal and reversed his car into a river in Yangzhong City of east Chinas Jiangsu Province on 3 December. The driver, whose surname is Zhang, had stopped to greet a friend and stepped out of his vehicle without applying the handbrake. After noticing his car rolling slowly downhill towards the river, Zhang rushed back to try and stop it. However, he stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to shoot backwards, crashing into an motorcycle before falling into the river. Luckily, the rider did not sustain any injuries from the collision. Zhang manged to get out from his car and from the river. According to police, he was not found to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
