Benedict Cumberbatch's Hollywood movie Doctor Strange opened to good response and has shown decent growth at the Indian box office on in its second day – Saturday.

American superhero films featuring the Marvel Comics character are very popular in India. The huge success of Marvel Studios' X-Men, Iron Man and Captain America film series is a proof of the big fanbase for it. Doctor Strange is the next venture of Marvel Studios and its promos had created lot of curiosity about the film among the Indian audience, before its release.

Since there were no big ticket Indian releases this week, the Scott Derrickson-directed movie was expected to opened to a fantastic start at the Indian box office. Despite clashing with old releases - Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay, Doctor Strange started on good note and collected Rs 2.63 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day of its release in the theatres.

The Benedict Cumberbatch starrer garnered good talk from the Indian audience and the word of mouth took its business upwards on Saturday. Doctor Strange witnessed 31.56 percent growth in its business and collected Rs 3.46 crore nett at the Indian box office on its second day.

Doctor Strange collected Rs 6.09 crore nett at the Indian box office on two days. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#DoctorStrange witnesses 31.56% growth on Day 2... Fri 2.63 cr, Sat 3.46 cr. Total: ₹ 6.09 cr. India biz."

Doctor Strange has registered superb occupancy in the morning show today (Sunday) and the footfalls are larger in number than that of Friday and Saturday. As per early trends, the movie is likely to collect Rs 4.50 crore at the Indian box office on its third day and its opening weekend nett total will reach Rs 10.59 crore.

Written by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange is about a former neurosurgeon, who embarks on a journey of healing only to be drawn into the world of the mystic arts. The audience from India say that the story of the film has nothing great to talk about, but its amazing visual effects and Benedict Cumberbatch's performance are the major highlights of the movie.
