Punjabi aagaye oye... and one of the most loved celebrity singers and fashionistas, Diljit Dosanjh, is back with a bang. The maverick singer and actor made headlines when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon during his concert in Canada.
The performer enthralled Jimmy with his powerful bhangra moves and also got him dancing to his beats. Diljit also spoke his heart out, sharing that his goal is to raise awareness about Punjab around the world rather than promote himself. He claimed to have regularly discussed Punjab on all accessible platforms after his magnificent interview.
Tried to get out of my body: Diljit Dosanjh's on-stage remark about death leaves fans worried
Diljit performed in Calgary, Canada, as part of his Aura World Tour 2026. Since then, several photos and videos from the concert have gone viral. Days after the concert, a video from the event has surfaced on social media, and it's grabbing attention for Diljit's chilling remark about death.
As the singer-actor is heard telling the crowd that he tried to get out of his body last December, many fans are concerned about his health and well-being. He went on to stress the importance of love and his connection to Punjab, saying, "I have no fear of death, and I don't have any animosity towards anyone. I love everyone. Love, respect, and forgiveness. I am trying to bring this into my life as much as I can. Those who are still with me, this is the name of Punjab. I am Punjab. What do you say?"
Diljit Dosanjh paused his concert in Canada to address pro-Khalistani protesters
Another clip doing the rounds on social media shows Diljit Dosanjh addressing a certain section of people in the crowd waving flags during his Aura tour stop in Calgary, Canada. "Jitne jhande dikhane, dikhao. (Show as many flags as you want)"
On noticing the flags, Diljit Dosanjh stopped the show mid-performance and asked those involved to leave the act aside. He also directed the organisers to remove the individuals from the venue. The flags being waved are associated with a banned organisation under India's Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Many times, Diljit Dosanjh has been trolled for allegedly supporting Khalistani.
During the Calgary concert, Dosanjh recalled previous disruptions by similar protestors at his shows in Australia. He emphasised his commitment to representing Punjab on national and international platforms, including his appearances on Indian and American television.
"My job is not to do charity. But whichever platform I go on, I always talk about Punjab. We often say the national media doesn't talk about Punjab enough. I went everywhere, including on that channel (Sony Entertainment Television for KBC), for the sake of Punjab. I put forth Punjab's issues there. I've even donated generously to my state whenever needed," the singer said.
"If you still have an issue that I sat across someone on television, jinne jhande dikhane dikhai challo (then keep waving many flags however you want to)," he added.
The moment drew loud reactions from the audience and was widely circulated online.
Apart from concerts and KBC, Diljit Dosanjh also addressed criticism linked to his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying his participation was aimed at bringing global attention to Punjab rather than self-promotion. The interaction was also met with cheers from the crowd.
The Punjabi singer-actor said, "We love Punjab. Whichever platform I go to, I always talk about Punjab. I have always said that the national media doesn't talk about us. The channels I go to, I talk about Punjab. I didn't talk about my songs. I didn't promote anything. I went to that channel for the sake of Punjab." The moment swiftly went viral as the audience cheered in response.
Diljit Dosanjh started his Aura Tour at BC Place in Vancouver on April 23. He performed at what Billboard Canada called the biggest Punjabi music performance outside of India two years ago.
