Before elections, it was rumoured that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had requested Jr NTR to campaign for TDP in Telangana and the latter had accepted. But the actor stayed away from any kind of political activities. He did not even request his fans to support and cast their vote for his sister Nandamuri Suhasini, who made her debut and contested from Kukatpally constituency.

Jr NTR just informed his followers that his sister was gearing to do public service and wished her success. The young tiger had tweeted on November 16, "Wishing my sister Suhasini garu all the very best, as she takes her first step into public service"

It was rumoured that Jr NTR's bonding with KTR grew stronger after the death of his father Nandamuri Harikrishna, who died in a car accident. KCR and KTR visited his house and offered condolences to his family. They made sure his funeral took place smoothly, besides giving State's special honours. They also announced a special memorial for him. Their gesture made Jr NTR stayed away from the election campaign.
