"Hindu bahut hi darpok kom hai…": Ranveer Singh in revenge beast mode as Hamza, 'Ab Pakistan ka mustakbil Hindustan tey karega' in Dhurandhar 2 trailerInstagram

Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge is all set to hit the big screens on March 19, 2026. Paid previews have been scheduled from the evening of March 18, and several filmmakers who have already watched the film have shared their reviews on X (formerly Twitter).

Ahead of the release, Dhar took to X to thank audiences for the love they have showered on Dhurandhar Part 1. He also urged fans not to share spoilers on social media, allowing viewers to experience the film as intended in theatres.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma shared his reaction on Wednesday, writing, "After last night's watch of #Dhurandhar2, in terms of its sheer cumulative impact—whether in expected collections, audience euphoria, social influence, cinematic grammar-breaking, and above all, its psychological audiovisual impact, it will be a Sholay x 100 level magnificence. It is bound to make all the greatest films made so far, starting from Mughal-e-Azam onwards, look like TV serials."

He further added, "The very spelling of the word 'director' will start from @adityadharfilms' name, and it would be prudent for even Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan to drop everything they're doing and catch #Dhurandhar2 first day, first show."

Meanwhile, ahead of the film's release, Aditya Dhar reiterated his request to audiences not to reveal spoilers and also hinted at a post-credit scene.

In a heartfelt note, he wrote, "To my dearest, most extraordinary Dhurandhar family—since its release on December 5, 2025, you didn't just watch our film; you loved it, lived it, and embraced every detail. You debated every moment, rewatched it, and discovered things I never imagined. Somewhere along this beautiful journey, our film became yours—then the nation's, and then the world's. That is the most humbling gift a filmmaker can receive."

He added, "We've poured our hearts into Dhurandhar: The Revenge so you can experience every twist and emotion exactly as intended—in a theatre, in the dark, surrounded by people sharing the same feelings. That's how films should be experienced, not on a blurry phone screen. So here's my earnest request: please don't share spoilers. Let every fan walk in curious and walk out with their own unique experience. You made Dhurandhar what it is, and now I trust you to protect what it becomes."

He concluded with a final note: "Oh, and one more thing, don't leave your seats until the credits have stopped rolling."

CBFC edits and runtime

The film's Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reports several edits, scene cuts, and replacements that have shortened the runtime for its domestic release.

The cuts include gruesome violence described as smashing the eye, beheading, kicking, hitting the head with a cement block and hitting the head with a hammer, all of which were trimmed. As per the report, the 24 seconds of a beheading and kicking scene were deleted.

Despite the edits, the film has been granted an 'A' certificate. The final runtime for its India release stands at 3 hours, 49 minutes and 36 seconds, slightly shorter than the version initially submitted to the board, which was approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes long.

The report also mentions corrections to demonetisation dates in subtitles and the replacement of Lahore with Delhi in the information text. Additionally, the makers submitted official permission to the CBFC for the use of references to the Prime Minister and news footage.

The film has received an 'A' certification, with a final runtime of 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 36 seconds in India. The version initially submitted was approximately 3 hours and 51 minutes. With additional cuts of around 1.3 minutes, the domestic version is now over six minutes shorter than the overseas cut, which runs approximately 3 hours and 55 minutes.
