Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" has topped the overseas box office chart with highest earnings ever recorded. The action thriller has decimated the lifetime accumulation record of "3 Idiots" in overseas markets.

After becoming the top grosser film at the domestic box office, "Dhoom 3" has now picked up the same position in the worldwide business sector.

With $26.35 million earnings in just 24 days, "Dhoom 3" has now become the highest grosser film in the international arena, beating "3 Idiots" earnings of $25 million.

"#Dhoom3 Overseas total *after Weekend 4* is $ 26.35 million [₹ 161.92 cr]. All Time Blockbuster!" trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya was released in 750 screens abroad on 20 December. The film smashed several records at both Indian and overseas markets.

The US-Canada and UAE-GCC circuits mostly contributed to the film's earnings. In other circuits including Australia and New Zealand, the film crossed the lifetime collection of "3 Idiots".

Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" managed to be on top for more than three years. While India's record of "3 Idiots" was initially broken by "Chennai Express" in 2013, the overseas record was broken by "Dhoom 3".
