Actor-turned-politician Vijay's wife, Sangeetha, had filed for divorce in the Chengalpattu Family Court back in February 2026, citing an extramarital relationship with an actress. She alleged that Vijay was involved in the relationship, which she claimed to have discovered in 2021. According to the petition, Vijay had assured her that he would end the relationship, but allegedly continued it despite those assurances. However, on Friday, Vijay's wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, withdrew the divorce petition that she had filed before the Chengalpattu Family Court.
Sangeetha appeared before the court through video conferencing and confirmed that she did not wish to proceed further with the divorce case.
As per the court order, Sangeetha filed a withdrawal petition in Family Court case FCSMOP No.102/2026. The court recorded her statement made through video conference that she no longer wished to pursue the case. Notice was issued to the respondent's counsel, who raised no objection to the withdrawal.
The court permitted Sangeetha to withdraw the petition and granted her liberty to file a fresh petition in the future, if required.
Sangeetha had filed the divorce petition in February, alleging that Vijay was involved in an adulterous relationship with a female actor, which she claimed to have discovered in 2021. According to the petition, Vijay had assured her that he would end the relationship, but allegedly continued it despite those assurances.

The petition also alleged that Vijay gradually excluded Sangeetha from his social and professional life while travelling abroad and making public appearances with the female actor. It claimed that photographs of these outings were regularly shared on social media and that Vijay neither denied nor objected to them.
Sangeetha further contended that the posts caused repeated humiliation to her and their two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha. She also accused Vijay of withdrawing facilities that had previously been available to her and imposing financial restrictions, including limiting her freedom of movement.
In the petition, Sangeetha alleged that Vijay's conduct, coupled with the social media controversies surrounding him in 2024, caused her severe mental trauma. She claimed that the marriage had irretrievably broken down and existed only on paper, adding that the relationship was beyond reconciliation and had left her with mental agony, indignity, humiliation and suffering.
