Indian airlines in a discount battle, earlier in October also rolled out attractive deals for travelling during the holiday season in their respective Diwali airfare sales. The flyers were presented with many options to choose from Air India, Jet Airways and Vistara besides low cost carriers like IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir.

Reports also suggested that last week SpiceJet launched six new additional flights anticipating a surge in demand in the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday season. These new seasonal flights will be effective from December 22 and will continue till February 5, 2018.

Even IndiGo said it will launch new flights from December 29 to meet demand from the customers.

A robust demand during the peak season will also boost the aviation industry's profitability in the second half of fiscal year 2018, according to a rating agency Icra.
