VV Vinayak, who is directing megastar Chiranjeevi's 150th movie "Kathilantodu," is reportedly in talks with actress-turned politician Vijayashanthi to bring her back together with Chiru on screen.

"Kathilantodu" is an official remake of Vijay's blockbuster Tamil film "Kaththi." The makers are in talks with Nayantara for the female lead in it. The movie is said to have a special character and producer Ram Charan and director VV Vinayak have reportedly approached Vijayashanthi for the role.

Vijayashanthi has reportedly evinced her interest in the role, but she is yet to accept the offer officially. "There is one special character in the film. The makers, Chiranjeevi and director V.V Vinayak felt that Vijayashanthi would be perfect for the role. So, they approached her. She responded positively, but hasn't signed the film yet," the Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.

Vijayashanthi made her acting debut with superstar Krishna's Telugu film "Khiladi Krishnudu" in 1980. She went to act with late legendary actors NTR, ANR and Shoban Babu and other leading actors of the time. She also worked with next generation actors Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Kamal Hassan. She became the most sought after actress of 1980s and 90s.

Vijayashanthi was paired up with Chiranjeevi for the first time in "Sangarshana" in 1983. Their chemistry worked wonders for the film at the box office. After this success, the couple came together for 18 other movies. They were considered as the hottest couple for two decades. They were last seen together in 1993 film "Mechanic Alludu," after which they decided not to work together again.

She has featured in over 155 movies in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages in her career spanning two and half decades. She was last seen in "Naayudamma" in 2004. After this film, she stopped signing up for new films to focus on her political career. If she agrees to work in this film, it will be her come back to the film industry after 12 years.
