Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone starrer "Chennai Express" will soon cross the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

The rom-com, which was slammed by critics but loved by audience, has sparked a frenzy at Indian and international markets with its record breaking collections.

At the domestic box office, the family entertainer has managed to earn ₹124.54 crore in its five-day theatrical run. After having a strong opening weekend, the collections dropped on the first Monday and Tuesday.

"The film maintained it on the second and the third day, which shows how well it is being accepted and loved by the audiences. This is the only reason why it has successfully created a new benchmark at the box office and will continue to do so," Gaurav Verma, director, India Theatrical Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, told IANS.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the five-day breakup of the film is: ₹6.75 crore on Thursday's paid preview, ₹33.12 crore on Friday, ₹28.05 crore on Saturday, ₹32.50 crore on Sunday, ₹12.62 crore on Monday and ₹11.50 crore on Tuesday.

If the film continues to run with express speed at the box office, then it would likely cross the ₹150 crore mark within its first week.

The Rohit Shetty's directorial is also racing towards the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Taking into account its domestic and overseas collecitons, the film made a total business of about ₹175.01 crore.

The film raked in ₹50.47 crore ($8.25 million) from the overseas market in its opening weekend. [Check out the overseas country-wise breakup of the film here]

The film's release on Eid has turned out to be a good luck charm for Shah Rukh, Deepika and Rohit. For Deepika, this is the third consecutive film released this year that has crossed the ₹100 crore after "Race 2" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".

For SRK, his recent box office success has brought some relief as his previous films failed to score the same kinda of success.
