In a shocking mobile footage that is doing the rounds on social media, a man can be seen being beaten to death by four men on a public road in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The incident took place at 5:30 pm on Sunday, 31 January, when 23-year-old victim Manakkadu Veettil Shabeer was on a motorcycle with his friend Unnikrishnan.

The reports from Kerala suggest that Shabeer and his friend were stopped by four people, who attacked them with sticks on Sunday. Shabeer was reportedly an eyewitness in a crime committed by the attackers a year ago.

Although Shabeer, who hails from Vakkam near Attingal, was soon taken to the hospital by the locals, he was declared dead on Monday afternoon. His friend, who is seriously injured, has been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

The video of the mishap, captured on a mobile phone, has gone viral on social media with more than five lakh Facebook users viewing it within hours. The investigators have requested media not to telecast the footage of the incident and have requested people to give information on the attackers. Latest reports suggest that Vinayak (23), Kiran (23), Santhosh (24) and Satheesh (27) have been arrested in connection with the case.

Shabeer's funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at Vakkam Muslim Jama Ath. He is survived by his father Sakeer Hussain, mother Naseema and brother Shameer and Shajeer.
