India vs Pakistan, CHampions Trophy, Terror attack

The mother of all cricket matches -- India vs Pakistan -- is always a tense affair, but the level of tension has gone to a scary level after the twin terror attacks in London late on Saturday. Now, there are reports that British security services have been informed about the possibilities of a terror attack during the India-Pakistan encounter as well.

As a result, security has been beefed up in Edgbaston, where the match is scheduled to take place in the next few hours. The match is scheduled for 3 pm IST.

Both the teams were said to have been alerted about the possible attack and the concerned officials in the UK are going to keep a close eye on the proceedings.

"Several BCCI and PCB officials were told last night about a potential terrorist attack in Edgbaston," The Times of India quoted a source as saying.

"There is nothing to worry about, but since the intelligence units don't want to take any risk after the Manchester attack last month, they have told the officials from both teams to not talk to the media about it because it may create panic. They don't want to take any risk," the source added.

Though the UK officials might be keeping a close eye on all such things, the situation might be tense as this London attack is the second terror attack within a fortnight or so. The last attack was in Manchester last month.

The scheduled clash between India and Pakistan will be their first match of the Champions Trophy, and one hopes that the game of cricket and the competition does not get affected by any untoward incident in England.
