An eight-year-old boy was killed in Roorkee, Uttarakhand on Saturday in an explosion which took place in a rubbish dump.

The blast took place near DAV College.

Another report claimed that the boy, studying in class 6, died after a 'defused' Army bomb kept in his school bag exploded.

The Uttarakhand government has ruled out foul play for now.

While the state Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that the child could have picked up defunct ammunition from the cantonment, the Roorkee SSP felt that the incident could have been an accident.
