Director Boyapati Srinu has denied the reports that mixed response for his latest venture "Sarainodu" (Sarrainodu) had affected its collection at the global box office in its opening weekend.

"Sarainodu" is one of the much-hyped and highly anticipated Telugu movies of 2016. The movie, which had created lot of expectations, was released in theatres around the world on April 22 and did record breaking collection at the box office. The film received mixed talk from audience and critics. Some media houses reported that the word of mouth took a toll on its business over the weekend.

In an interview to 123Telugu, Boyapati Srinu slammed the reports. "The response has been wonderful and the film is carrying superb talk all over the two Telugu states. I am getting a lot of calls from the distributors and they are extremely happy with the way the film is running to packed houses," the director said.

"The mixed response was only from a certain group but the actual audience loved the movie. In today's time, if the film is not good, the collections will reflect right away on the second and third day. But the collections are steady and the common audience are loving the film. I feel that they are the right people who make or break a film," he added.

Meanwhile, he admitted "Sarainodu" has got mixed talk, but claimed that people are all praise for showing different image of Allu Arjun. "The response has been mixed but all those who have called me just loved the film and praised me for my work. They also congratulated me for showcasing Bunny in a powerful and mass role."

The director says even Chiru is impressed with Bunny's portrayal in "Sarainodu." "After watching the film, Chiranjeevi garu told me that he was surprised to see Bunny in such a dominating role and congratulated me for my work. This was a huge compliment for me as from the day one, my only aim was to showcase Bunny in a new avatar," Srinu added.

"Sarainodu" was made with a whopping budget of Rs. 50 crore and its theatrical rights were sold for a record price of Rs. 54 crore. The Allu Arjun and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer has grossed approximately Rs. 40+ crore at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend. The movie is estimated to have earned Rs. 28 crore for its distributors in three days.
