Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" is scaling heights at the box office. The film enjoyed its three week theatrical run without being affected by new releases.
The romantic film in its third week raked in ₹21.81 crore nett from the domestic box office, taking the overall total to ₹177.09 crore.
#YJHD Breakup for Week 3:- Fri 3.25 cr, Sat 4.30 cr, Sun 5.65 cr, Mon 2.50 cr, Tue 2.30 cr, Wed 2 cr, Thu 1.81 cr. Total: ₹177.09 cr nett," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The blockbuster film requires another ₹23 crore to cross the ₹200 crore mark in India, which seems slightly impossible because of the release of "Raanjhaana".
"Raanjhanaa" starring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor will affect the business of "YJHD" as both films are based on romance. Also, "YJHD" is in its fourth week at the box office and the number of screens has declined drastically.
Meanwhile, Ayan Mukherji's directorial film has raked in ₹56.30 crore from the overseas box office. The worldwide collection of the film after third week stands at ₹233.39 crore.
"YJHD" is Ranbir, Deepika, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kalki Koechlin's biggest grosser ever (so far).
The film remained unaffected at the box office after the release of "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2", "Fukrey" and "Ankur Arora Murder Case".
While, "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" and "Ankur Arora Murder Case" flopped, "Fukrey" managed to earn quite well.
The comedy film directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba minted ₹18.42 crore in its first week.
"Week 1. Fri 2.62 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.10 cr, Mon 2.15 cr, Tue 2.25 cr, Wed 2.20 cr, Thu 2 cr. SUPER," Adarsh tweeted.
The film picked over the weekend and maintained a good position during the weekdays. Positive word of mouth helped the film earn well after witnessing a dull opening.
