Pulkit Samrat-Yami Gautam starrer "Sanam Re" and Hollywood movie "Deadpool" dominated Aditya Roy Kapur-Katrina Kaif starrer "Fitoor" at the domestic (India) box office.

Sanam Re

Critics slammed Divya Khosla Kumar's directorial film "Sanam Re", but the film managed to impress moviegoers. "Sanam Re" opened better than "Deadpool" and "Fitoor" at the domestic box office and minted Rs 5.04 crore on opening day.

"#SanamRe Fri ₹ 5.04 cr. India biz," box office analyst Adarsh tweeted.

Despite receiving negative reviews the film opened well, but it will be difficult for it to maintain the same pace on Saturday and Sunday. However, "Sanam Re" has an upper hand at the box office and might have a better opening weekend compared to the other two films.

Deadpool

American superhero film "Deadpool" based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name had a good start in India with an opening day box office collection of Rs 4.10 crore.

"#Deadpool Fri ₹ 4.10 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Tim Miller's film features Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams. "Deadpool" was released along with "Sanam Re" and "Fitoor" during the Valentine's Week in India, but it opened better than the Kapur-Kaif starrer.

Fitoor

"Fitoor", directed by Abhishek Kapoor, released in 1,400 screens in India Friday and approximately 400 screens internationally. The Kapur-Kaif starrer opened to a mixed bag of reviews with occupancy of just 20 to 30 percent. The film was not expected to have a big opening, but the opening day box office is disappointing.

"#Fitoor Fri ₹ 3.61 cr. India biz," Adarsh tweeted, adding, "#Fitoor will need HUGE numbers/jump on Sat and Sun to post a decent weekend total. India biz."

"Fitoor", which also features Tabu in lead role, earned just Rs 3.61 crore on its first day. The film will have to earn huge numbers over the weekend to sail safe and record a decent three-day box office collection.

"Fitoor" is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel "Great Expectations." The film, which is written by Kapoor and Supratik Sen, also features Ajay Devgn in an intense role.
