Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's romantic comedy "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" (HSKD) and Riteish Deshmukh's Marathi debut film "Lai Bhaari" had a rocking weekend at domestic box offices.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

The romantic comedy, which is a tribute to classic 90s film "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge", has managed to win audience's heart in India. The film opened on a decent note, but on Saturday and Sunday the film showed tremendous growth.

However, it failed to cross the ₹50 crore mark in its opening weekend. The film managed to take its three days total to ₹33.74 crore.

The business of "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania", directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan, remained low due to heavy rainfall in several circuits especially Mumbai. Also, the film faced competition from Marathi film "Lai Bhaari" at Maharashtra box offices.

But overall, "HSKD" has managed to pull off decent numbers from the box office,

Meanwhile, in overseas market also the film has opened to good response. The business of "HSKD" is way better than Dhawan's last release "Main Tera Hero" in international market.

Lai Bhaari

Deshmukh starrer "Lai Bhaari" had outstanding business in its opening weekend. The film has got phenomenal response from people in Maharashtra. Within three days of its release, the film created records for other Marathi films.

With positive word of mouth, the film will continue its marvelous run at the box office. The film is also expected to dominate the box office market over regional and Bollywood films in the coming weeks.
