Tiger Shroff's "Heropanti" is leading the box office in its second week, while the new releases "Citylights" and "Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi" has opened to very poor response in India.

"Heropanti"

The film which marks the debut of Shroff and Kriti Sanon has opened the second week on a steady note. The masala entertainer has raked in ₹2.07 crore on second Friday to take its overall accumulations to ₹37.98 crore.

"#Heropanti maintains it's heroic run. Collects ₹ 2.07 cr on Fri [Week 2]. Total: ₹ 37.98 cr nett. HIT," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#Heropanti Fri 6.63 cr, Sat 6.42 cr, Sun 8.28 cr, Mon 4.26 cr, Tue 3.79 cr, Wed 3.41 cr, Thu 3.12 cr. Total: ₹ 35.91 cr nett. HIT," Adarsh tweeted the first week breakup of the film.

Thus, the film has shattered the records of Farhan Akhtar's "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" and Sidharth Malhotra's "Hasee Toh Phasee" at the domestic box office.

"Shaadi Ke Side Effects" and "Hasee Toh Phasee" raked in ₹37.36 crore and ₹37.4 crore respectively in their lifetime run.

The poor response for new releases at the box office helped "Heropanti" collection. The film will soon take the total to ₹50 crore mark in India. After "Student of the Year", "Heropanti" will be the second film starring newcomers to reach the half century mark.

Considering the dull period at the box office in the first quarter mid-second quarter, "Heropanti" has brought some relief. The film will soon become one of the highest grosser films of the 2014.

Meanwhile, the director of the film Sabbir Khan has roped in the lead actors of "Heropanti" for his next project which is going to be a romantic thriller.

"The idea stemmed from an informal chat that I was having with Tiger and Kriti. So we thought, why not work together again? I am definitely planning a film with Tiger and Kriti. The script will be a step ahead for them. Although, right now my entire focus is only on Heropanti, I am quite kicked about the next project as well," Khan told to The Indian Express.

"Citylights" and "Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi"

This week's release "Citylights" and "Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi" had a tepid start at the domestic box office. The combined total of both the films is less than a crore.

"Citylights" starring National Award winner Rajkummar Rao and debutant Patralekha received rave reviews from critics, but the film failed to create the magic at the box office.

But critics have hope that the collection will improve during the weekends since the word of mouth is positive and strong. "Citylights" directed by Hansal Mehta is the official adaptation of "Metro Manila." Check out the reviews HERE

"Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi" produced by Ekta Kapoor and Bejoy Nambiar has received mixed reviews and it is not expected to show jump in collection during weekends.
