Three films were released this week at the box office, including "Hate Story 2", "Pizza" and "Amit Sahni Ki List" and out of these only "Hate Story 2" opened to a decent response. Tamil film "Velai Illa Pattathari" (VIP) has embarked on a good note at the overseas box office.

"Hate Story 2"

The erotic thriller starring newcomers Surveen Chawlaand and Jay Bhanushali in the lead roles had surprisingly opened on a very good note, raking in around ₹5.46 crore.

The film, which also stars Sushant Singh garnered mediocre reviews from critics upon its release, but the film managed to pull the crowds on its opening day.

"Hate Story 2," directed by Vishal Pandya is a sequel to 2012 released film with the same name. At certain circuits, the film opened to 40 to 60 percent occupancy, which is quite decent considering the star cast, Bollywood Hungama reported.

"Pizza"

It is a remake of the blockbuster Tamil horror film with the same name. The Tamil version garnered positive reviews upon its release and went on to become one of the commercially successful horror films. But the Hindi film turned out to be a disaster at the box office. The opening day business is less than a crore and with negative reviews, the film is not expected to do well in its opening weekend.

"Amit Sahni Ki List"

The romantic comedy film received positive reviews, but the film failed to pull the crowds towards it on its foremost day. The film features Vir Das in the lead role and is helmed by Ajay Bhuyan.

The opening day total of the rom-com is lesser than the horror film "Pizza." However, with positive reviews and word of mouth, the film is expected to pick up its pace at the box office during the weekend.

"Velai Illa Pattathari"

Tamil film "VIP" starring Dhanush in the lead role had an impressive start in the international market. The opening day business of the romantic action drama in the US, UK, Australia and Malaysia is very good.

In India, the film has received positive response from critics and is expected to fetch decent numbers at the domestic box office too.
