Aamir Khan's 'PK' (Peekay) to Create 300 Crore Club at Box Office?facebook

Aamir Khan's "PK" (Peekay) has shattered the records of Salman Khan's "Kick" to become the highest grossing film of the year.

Aamir's film has again proved that Christmas period is lucky for him. Last year "Dhoom 3" pushed past all the records and this year it's "PK".

The second Sunday collection of Rajkumar Hirani's directorial film is higher than what trade analysts expected. The satire film earned a whopping ₹21.85 crore on Sunday, according to Bollywood Hungama.

The second weekend total of the film is ₹53.14 crore, which is the highest ever recorded. The domestic net earnings of the film after adding the second weekend total stands at ₹236.5 crore.

"PK" has now pushed back Salman Khan's "Kick" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" to gain the third spot in the highest grosser list.

It is all set to beat the record of Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3" at the domestic box office and take the second spot.

Looking at the "PK" pace at the box office, trade analysts are expecting the film to cross the ₹300 crore mark in India. The film is going very strong at collection centers at worldwide box office and if it continues to run in this pace, it will earn ₹300 crore by the fourth week.

"Yes, I definitely think the numbers are as per expectations and we are looking at the movie which is going to do ₹300 Cr. So, I think its performance is at par at what the expectations were and I think it might succeed the expectations also as we still have 1st January too as a Holiday. So with the number of holidays the movie is going to break all records," Tarun Tandon, M.D, Indra Films, Nizam and Andhra, told Koimoi.com.

"The conditions obviously are as expected or rather more awfully expected. The movie has sustained fabulously through the week. And the way the film has sustained, 99.9% we are looking at PK as the biggest grosser ever," Exhibitor Akshaye Rathi added.
