Border 2 has made a super collection at the Indian box office in the first week but failed to become the highest grosser in opening week for Sunny Deol, beating the record of Gadar 2.
Border 2 started on a high note and went on to show a big jump over the extended weekend. The movie has done good business in mass circuits. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "The mass circuits have performed exceptionally well, and urban markets – particularly #Mumbai city and suburbs – showed a notable pickup over the weekend."
But Border 2 witnessed a steep decline at the ticket counters on Wednesday and Thursday and failed to cross Rs 250 crore net mark. The trade analyst wrote, "The film had an extraordinary run during the *extended* weekend... While collections dipped on Wednesday and Thursday in particular, the overall *8-day* total is outstanding."

Border 2 has failed to beat the record of Gadar 2, which has collected Rs 284.63 crore net in its opening week. Taran tweeted, "#Border2 closes its opening week on a thunderous note... The *extended* Week 1 collections stand as the second-highest of #SunnyDeol's career [after #Gadar2 – ₹ 284.63 cr] and the highest ever for #VarunDhawan, #DiljitDosanjh, and #AhanShetty."
The Sunny Deol starrer will clash with Mardaani 3 and two other new releases, which have been forced out of some cinema halls and also become first choices for the viewers this week. They are likely to take a toll on its collection. Strong word of mouth is expected to help it do well in its second week.
