BMW India will pull the wraps off its performance SUVs X5M and X6M in the country on 15 October (Thursday).

Both X5M and X6M SUVs, which will be brought to India as CBUs (Completely Built-Up Units) will be powered by the same 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that does duty in M5 sedan and M6 Gran Coupe .

The engine has the capacity to develop 567bhp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 2,200-5,000 rpm and will come mated to standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The SUVs can reach a top speed of 250kmph and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds.

To be pitched against Mercedes GL 63 AMG and ML63, BMW X5M and X6M will join the company's M portfolio in India and will be sold via M Studio.

Currently, BMW has the M3, M4 and the M5 and M6 Gran Coupe in the M line-up. BMW India launched the first M Studio in Mumbai on 1 October to retail the M division cars and is planning to expand the M studio network to Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad.
