BMW India is extending its portfolio of M division high performance cars with new launches scheduled on 15 October.

A report by IndianAutosBlog says BMW India has announced the launch of the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M performance SUVs.

The new high powered SUVs will be the fifth and sixth vehicles in the M range which already has the M3, M4, M5 and the recently launched 2015 M6 Gran Coupe.

The powerful version of the X5 SUV and X6 crossover is powered by a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 567bhp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm and and 750 Nm of torque between 2,200-5,000 rpm mated to standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Both the SUVs can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds before reaching the top speed of electronically limited 250kmph.

Both the M models are differentiated from their regular models on exterior with large air intakes at front, side gills with a model badge, M-specific exterior mirrors in twin-stalk style and M-spec quad tailpipe exhaust system. The BMW X6 M additionally boasts of a rear spoiler. The performance SUV also comes with M-spec 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

New BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M customers also have options exclusive to the M models such as Merino full-leather trim and M multifunction seats. The vehicles come with a choice of two new and exclusive M paint finishes - Long Beach Blue metallic and Donington Grey metallic.

BMW India launched the first M Studio in Mumbai on 1 October to retail the M division cars. Both the new SU's will be sold via M Studio. The German manufacturer has plans to open more M studios in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad by the end of 2016.
