Akshay Kumar's 2017 movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was one of the best films this year. Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay had brought a serious issue in front of the viewers with their film.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha tells the real-life story of a woman who leaves her husband just days after their wedding when she finds out that his home has no toilet.
The movie touched millions of hearts not only in India but all around the world. And how do we know it?
One of the World's richest people, Bill Gates, talked about the movie in his tweets. He took to the microblogging site and shared 7 inspiring tweets with his 42 million followers on the website.
And one of the tweets read: "Toilet: A Love Story," a Bollywood romance about a newlywed couple, educated audiences about India's sanitation challenge."
Isn't it a proud moment for the entertainment industry?
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet EK Prem Katha released on August 11. The movie dealt with a subject that has not been explored ever before. Taking inspiration from real life incidents, the movie highlighted the serious issue with a good dose of light humour and satire. Also, Akshay and Bhumi's onscreen romance was quite refreshing.
Akshay has been doing such wonderful movies with good scripts for a long time. Last year, his movie like Rustom and Airlift made him the National Awards winner. Now, in 2018, he will appear in another subject oriented movie, Padman.
Meanwhile, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is expected to bag many awards this time. The winning game has already begun as the movie recently received Extraordinary Impact Award at Zee Cine Awards 2018.
