A J&K Police statement in this regard read, "on a specific information regarding movement of militants, a joint Naka of Handwara police and Indian Army's 21-RR was laid at Chogal, Handwara during which two persons identified as Mehrajudin son of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat and Obaid Shafi Malla son Mohammad Shafi both residents of Awantipora were caught while moving in suspicious circumstances. Proactive Cyber sleuths nab two more terror supporters

The Cyber-surveillance unit of J&K police later tracked their social media accounts and found some incriminating material. They used web-chats to hatch and execute terrorist conspiracies.

Preliminary investigating revealed that these militants were members of the module belonging the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). These OGWs would not only recruit youth into militancy by radicalizing them over social media but also coordinated their training and arranged arms/ammunition as well.

On the discloser of Mehrajudin & Obaid, two more members of the module working as OGWs were arrested from South Kashmir's Awantipora area.
